News: *Katy Perry is doubling up on duties at the August 9, 2010 Teen Choice Awards. She will host and perform at the awards show. *Chris Jericho, of WWE fame, will be hosting ABC’s newest game show, Downfall, this summer. *Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew have both been upped to series regulars for the seventh season of Grey’s Anatomy this fall.Casting: *Stanley Tucci has signed on to play Dr. Erskine in the film, Captain America. *Vanessa Marcil will be reprising her role as Brenda Barrett on ABC’s General Hospital beginning in August. *Julia Stiles will be joining the cast of Showtime’s Dexter for 10 episodes. *Idris Elba will be guest starring on Showtime’s Big C. *John Stamos and Matt Lucas (Alice in Wonderland) are set to guest star on season two of Glee next fall. *Elizabeth Banks, Emily Mortimer and Zooey Deschanel will join Paul Rudd in the film, My Idiot Brother. The ladies will play Rudd’s sisters.

News: *Conan O’Brien has found a new home at TBS. He is scheduled to begin a Monday-Thursday routine for his late night talk show in November. *HBO‘s new series, Treme, has been renewed for a second season (after 1 episode!) *The Tonight Show‘s bandleader, Kevin Eubanks, officially announced this week that he will be leaving the show after 18 years. His last appearance will be in May. *Following the news of Kevin Eubanks departure, it was announced that American Idol‘s musical director, Rickey Minor, will be taking over for Eubanks beginning in June. *Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator, Joss Whedon, has signed on to direct the film, The Avengers. *Chace Crawford has backed out of the film remake of Footloose.Casting: *Charmed star, Holly Marie Combs, has joined Chad Lowe in the ABC Family series, Pretty Little Liars. *One Tree Hill star, Sophia Bush, has been cast in ABC‘s Southern Discomfort. The fate of One Tree Hill is still up in the air, so the ABC sitcom is in second position to The CW’s veteran series. *Kevin Bacon has signed on to the untitled project co-starring Steve Carell and Dan Fogelman.

News: *NBC has renewed The Marriage Ref, Minute to Win It and Who Do You Think You Are? for a second season. *FOX has cancelled Sons of Tuscon (After 4 episodes!) and ‘Til Death. *American Idol season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert, is set to play mentor to the remaining finalists on April 13. (I thought Miley was bad, but Adam? If you’re going to go with someone from the show, how about Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood?!?) *MTV renewed The Buried Life for a second season.Casting: *Mandy Moore is scheduled to guest star on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. *Katie Cassidy & Cory Montieth have joined Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester in Monte Carlo. *Dermot Mulroney has locked down the cast for his directorial debut, Love, Wedding, Marriage. Mandy Moore, Kellan Lutz, James Brolin and Jane Seymour are set to star.

News: *Apparently, Miley Cyrus is set to be the mentor on the March 23 episode of American Idol. I’m guessing this choice is more about promoting her movie (coming out a week later) than anything else. She is also scheduled to perform on the March 24 results show. *Usher is reporting on his website that he will also be a part of American Idol on March 30 & 31. This mentor has much more credibility, so maybe we can forget about the previous week’s. *NBC‘s lone soap opera, Days of our Lives, has been renewed for another year, keeping them on through 2011.Casting: *Film actress, Sissy Spacek, is venturing into the TV world by signing on to a CBS medical pilot. *Christian Slater is hoping three is a lucky number. He is attached to an untitled FOX comedy pilot. His last two attempts at TV on NBC and ABC have both failed after one season. *Tate Donovan is set to join Michael Chiklis in ABC’s No Ordinary Family. *Thomas Haden Church has signed on to Showtime’s new show, Episodes, starring Matt LeBlanc. *Will Ferrell & Rebecca Hall are attached to the drama, Everything Must Go.
